Are you already looking forward to that unique leather scent when you unpack it, only to find yourself wrinkling your nose because it turned out to be a little too strong? Don’t worry—that can happen, because after all, our leather is a natural product that stands out above all for its eco-friendly production. Regular use of your bag will cause the intense smell to fade, leaving only the characteristic leather scent. But if that takes too long for you, you can also use small scented sachets—such as lavender—for a quick fix.

Here, too, the first rule is: Stay calm! These stains aren’t a big deal at all and are easy to remove. They’re just traces of sebum. Leather is a natural product that can naturally release oils, which then causes these unsightly white marks to appear. A cloth or sponge will help here, too—but this time, make sure it’s completely dry. Gently rub the stains with it, and as if by magic, the stain will disappear in no time.

Our leather comes from free-range goats in India. In the steppe, there are many dangers to their skin, such as thorny bushes. Once they get caught on one—SNAP!—they get a scratch. But that just goes to show once again how natural our products are. If a scratch like this really bothers you, grab a beeswax-based leather care product and a cloth or small sponge. Lightly dampen the cloth or sponge, making sure it doesn’t get too wet. Then gently dab the beeswax onto the spot and rub it in. The beeswax causes the area to darken slightly, making the scratch completely invisible. This effect enhances the unique look and charm of your bag. Note: Applying a beeswax care product also serves as an additional waterproofing treatment. However, this will make the leather slightly darker.

Our bags are handmade. As a result, there may be occasional instances where the threads at the seams haven’t been trimmed and are sticking out. Here, too, the easiest solution is: Do it yourself! (Whether you’re a woman or a man!) Just grab your nail scissors from the bathroom and carefully trim the threads. But be careful not to cut too close to the seams, or they might come undone.

If your leather bag is a little greasy, there’s no need to worry. Most of the time, you can simply wipe the grease off with a dry, clean cotton cloth. If it takes a little more effort, you can place your bag in the oven at 50°C for up to 60 minutes to let the grease dry out. Afterward, it’s best to wipe it down again with soapy water and re-condition it. On warm, sunny days, you can also place the bag in the sun to reduce the grease.

This problem, too, can be solved with a few simple steps: Using a little water, scouring powder, and cotton swabs, you can remove rust, glue, and grease from the rivets. To do this, simply dip a damp cotton swab into the scouring powder and gently rub it over the dirty rivets. Little by little, the rivets will become clean again and will end up shining just as brightly as they did at the beginning!

Just like new jeans, your new leather items may rub off color at first. To be on the safe side, you should pair Studio bags with dark clothing shortly after purchase! This will reduce the risk of stains on your light-colored clothes. It’s best to first test whether your leather item rubs off color using a light-colored cloth. Rub the leather a few times with a dry cloth, then wipe it with a very slightly damp cloth. Heat and moisture can cause color transfer, so it’s a good idea to protect your product from moisture afterward with a suitable waterproofing spray. Overall, you can prevent your leather bag from transferring color by using the right leather care products and maintaining a regular care routine.
